the crucifix of axesius

The Crucifix of Axesius

Nature: Cursed Relic | Fallen Divine Weapon | Mark of the Damned

Age/Status: Ancient | Hidden | Claimed by the Doors

Personality: Heavy. Silent. Treacherous.

Bio:

Forged in the sacred fires of the First Vigil, the Crucifix of Axesius once held the power to repel the corruption of the Abyss itself.
Blessed by unknown celestial forces, it could:

  • Burn the flesh of demons with a mere touch.

  • Silence the voices of cursed souls trapped between worlds.

  • Seal minor rifts where the Black Doors tried to bleed into reality.

  • Mark the bearer as protected — unbreakable to lesser evil.

In the hands of Axesius, it became more than a relic — it became a living weapon against darkness.

But even divine power cannot protect against betrayal.

While Axesius slept, his wife Selara, seduced by promises of immortality and power, stole the Crucifix and delivered it to his sworn enemy:

Vareth Mal'Kor

(The Hollow King)

Vareth Mal'Kor was a lord of the Unseen — a flesh-weaver and soul-breaker — whose ambition was to tear down the last defenses of mortal men and open the Black Doors fully.

With the Crucifix in his possession, corrupted by his rituals, he inverted its power:

  • The light that once shielded now burned its bearer from within.

  • The seals it once created now became keys to unlock deeper rifts.

  • The protection it once offered became a curse of slow, inevitable ruin.

Axesius was betrayed, captured, and executed before the Crucifix's corrupted form.
Selara's immortality never came — only torment and execution followed her treachery.

The Crucifix of Axesius vanished into legend.

Until now.

Passed secretly from desperate hand to desperate hand, its corrupted power lay dormant — until it found itself in the hands of Mike Walker, an unwilling heir to a curse far older than his bloodline.

The Crucifix of Axesius no longer defends.
It damns.
