Character Description: The Lost Souls
Name: The Lost Souls
Role: Tormented Spirits of the Black Doors
Appearance: Their forms are an amalgamation of shadows, flesh, and pain. The Lost Souls often appear as translucent, glowing figures, their bodies twisted in agony. Some have eyes that are wide with terror, others have hollow sockets, but all are filled with an eternal, unshakable sadness. Their faces change, reflecting the lives they led before being consumed by the Black Doors, but their expressions are consistently haunted and pleading for release.
Age: Ageless, as they are stuck in an eternal torment, never able to escape the realm of the Black Doors.
Personality: The Lost Souls are not individuals with distinct personalities anymore—they have become little more than the embodiment of despair. They are desperate for release but remain trapped in the Black Doors, where their suffering never ends. Though they may have once been real people, their will and humanity have been eroded by time and the horrors of the Black Doors. However, remnants of their former selves occasionally shine through, causing them to plea for mercy or try to warn others who enter.
Backstory & Nature:
The Lost Souls were once people—beings who entered the Black Doors for various reasons, from greed and ambition to fear and curiosity. Now, they are broken, their minds shattered and warped by the unending torment they experience in the Black Doors. They are caught in an endless cycle of torment, their very essence being consumed by the abyss. The Black Doors hold their souls in limbo, where they relive their greatest fears and regrets, a constant reminder of their failures. Many of the Lost Souls never even realize they are dead. Their memories have faded, and they only experience the world through pain and suffering.
Some were drawn to the Black Doors by Sabrina herself—lured by promises of power, wealth, or freedom. Others came by accident, driven by curiosity. Now, they exist only to serve as a warning to others, their voices a chilling echo in the cold, endless hallways. Occasionally, they manage to break free from their torment long enough to speak with the living, but their words are often incoherent or twisted. They are trapped in a world that is neither truly alive nor fully dead, stuck in a place of endless suffering where time has no meaning.
Role in Black Doors:
The Lost Souls are not just victims of the Black Doors—they serve a greater purpose within the dark realm. Their pain and despair fuel the power of Sabrina and the Black Doors. They are pawns in Sabrina’s game, their suffering feeding the forces that bind the realm together. When Mike or others enter the Black Doors, the Lost Souls may appear, either to guide them to their doom or to torment them with visions of what awaits.
They may try to communicate with those who wander too close, offering cryptic advice or warnings. However, the more one interacts with them, the more they risk losing themselves to the madness of the Black Doors. Many characters who spend too long in the Black Doors find themselves starting to resemble the Lost Souls, their minds slipping into the same despair and confusion.

Fate & Character Arc:
The Lost Souls are cursed to remain in the Black Doors for eternity unless someone, like Mike, can break their curse. However, it is unlikely that anyone can ever truly escape the Black Doors' grip. If Mike embraces his dark fate and becomes the Prince of the Black Doors, the Lost Souls may be forced to serve him—forever reminded of their own lost humanity. Should he succeed in destroying the Black Doors, however, their suffering may finally come to an end, though the cost to Mike may be unimaginable.
In the end, the Lost Souls represent the high price of temptation, desire, and the human longing for power—showing what becomes of those who fall victim to the abyss.
